News for August 2016

July turned out to be a very busy month on the farm. The hay was mown in the rain but luckily made during the hottest days of the year and straw baled soon after so both are in the barn ready for winter which is a relief. Yeovil Show in the middle of the month provided us with some good results and a few surprises for the first show of the season. The weekend after we hosted an open day for other members of the Dorset Down Sheep Breeders Association, to which over 30 people attended a farm walk along with discussions and demonstrations.

We have just heard that we have won the Melplash Agricultural Show medium size (50-300 ewes) on farm flock competition this year. This is the second time in 3 years we have won it and as you can imagine it puts us in good spirit ready for the show day on the 25th of August at West Bay.

The lambs are all weaned and growing fast, soon there will be fresh lamb available, please contact us to register your interest, and for those who have reserved Dorset Down Ewe Lambs for breeding they will be ready for collection soon.
